Fidan Discusses EU Accession, Regional Issues in Luxembourg
The meetings took place during a ministerial gathering on cross-regional security and connectivity, held as part of the EU Foreign Affairs Council. This was reported through a post by the Turkish Foreign Ministry on the country's social media platform, NSosyal.
Türkiye has been an official candidate for EU membership since 1999, a responsibility overseen by Commissioner Kos.
The country’s EU accession talks began in 2005 but have faced significant delays in recent years.
Turkish authorities have urged the EU to revive these negotiations, ensure fairness in the process, and acknowledge Türkiye's critical geopolitical and international significance.
In addition to his discussions with Kos, Fidan also held a meeting with Greek Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis.
This conversation took place on the sidelines of the EU Foreign Affairs Council session, according to the Turkish Foreign Ministry's subsequent update on NSosyal. However, further information on the content of these talks has not yet been disclosed.
