Shipwreck in northern Aegean Sea cause minimum of four deaths

(MENAFN) At least four migrants lost their lives following a shipwreck near the Greek island of Lesbos in the northern Aegean Sea, according to reports on Monday.

Rescue teams launched an extensive search operation to find possible missing passengers after seven migrants were pulled from the water southwest of Agrilia Cape, while four bodies were recovered from the site.

Reports indicated that the rescued individuals are Sudanese nationals, though the total number of people who were on the vessel remains unclear.

The ongoing search, which involves both aerial and ground units, has been hindered by strong winds affecting the area.
