HCA Announces New Staff Across its Historic Sites
The Delaware Division of Cultural and Historical Affairs is pleased to announce a host of new hires at the many museums and historic sites that bring Delaware’s storied history to life.
John Dickinson Plantation
Rachel Knearl-Wearne joined as Museum/Historic Site Interpreter. Previously she interned as a Digitization Associate with the First State National Historical Park AmeriCorps Vista program at the John Dickinson Plantation. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in history and English from Juniata College and one her favorite books is Secret History by Donna Tartt.
Kelly Oberdorf also joined as a Museum/Historic Site Interpreter. She previously worked at Books-A-Million and was a volunteer for the Division of Historical and Cultural Affairs. She holds a degree in hospitality management from Delaware Technical Community College. A true history buff, she is fascinated and inspired by stories of Colonial America, Ancient Greek history and Mythology. In her spare time, she enjoys reading about history and historical fiction.
Samantha Palmer is Museum/Historic Site Interpreter at John Dickinson Plantation, having recently graduated from Delaware State University with a bachelor’s degree in history and a minor in Africana studies. She is an avid reader and lover of history and world culture.
Before joining the John Dickinson Plantation as a Museum/Historic Site Interpreter, Lily Sharp completed historical research on enslaved individuals during an internship at the Zwaanendael Museum in Lewes. She is a recent graduate from Penn State University with a bachelor’s degree in anthropological science and a certificate in museum studies. Most of her academic career has been focused on the study of ancient humans and cultures, but she also has a strong interest in historical research and the American government.
The Old State House
Anna Renzi is a Historic Site Interpreter at the Old State House and the Johnson Victrola Museum, with a background in anthropology and biology. She holds a Master of Science in biomolecular archaeology from the University of Aberdeen and has worked across museums and science education in Delaware and Scotland.
Cooch’s Bridge
Bella Cerrone joined Cooch’s Bridge as a historic interpreter in September 2026. She was previously an intern for Delaware Historical and Cultural Affairs, summer 2024, through the University of Delaware. While interning she helped with outreach programs, transcribing documents, and assisted with Cooch’s Bridge research. She is a recent University of Delaware graduate with a degree in history and minors in museum studies and anthropology. As an interpreter Bella will be helping with developing the interpretation of the site in preparation for the site to open to the public in late 2027.
Logan Peterson joined as a historic interpreter September 2026. He has a Bachelor of Arts in English and history and a minor in museum studies from the University of Delaware and is working toward a master’s degree in history. Logan has worked at and volunteer at a number of different Delaware history museums including Winterthur Museum Garden & Library, Rockwood Park and Museum, Middletown Historical Society and Delaware Historical Society. His focus has been in collections as well as development of exhibits and programs. As an interpreter Logan will be helping with developing the interpretation of the site in preparation for the site to open to the public in late 2027.
Zwaanendael Museum
Jenna Olszak has been working at the Zwaanendael Museum since May 2025 as a Historical Interpreter. She is a former archivist who worked in repositories throughout the Philadelphia region. A graduate of Temple University, where she received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees, she is new to the area and excited to learn more about local Delaware history.
New Castle Court House Museum
MacLaren M. Remy joined the New Castle Court House Museum as a Historic Site Interpreter. She is an early American historian and museum professional whose work centers on social and cultural history and material culture. She holds a master’s degree in American history and museum studies from the University of Delaware and has worked with many museums, archives, and historic sites in the area. She previously interned at the Cooch’s Bridge Historic site.
